In 2021, I opened a boutique hotel and event space with my siblings, where I began hosting private dinners with chefs, friends, and guests. Those became some of my favorite nights at the property. After moving on, I realized how much I missed both hosting the dinners and creating the environments around them. The idea for DIMBULB grew from there.

 

I’ve spent my career in branding and design, much of it within hospitality, working with restaurants, hotels, and food and beverage brands to define how they look, feel, and are experienced. That experience shaped the way I think about spaces and, in particular, the role that atmosphere plays in how we experience them.

 

I’ve always been interested in the way lighting design can shape a space, particularly places that are dimly lit and evoke a mood but still feel balanced and comfortable. It’s less about how dark a room is and more about how thoughtfully light is used: where it falls, its warmth, what it catches, and ultimately how it changes the way you experience a room. Sometimes, without even realizing it, the right lighting makes you want to linger a little longer. And maybe that means another round of conversation or opening that good bottle of Bordeaux.

 

DIMBULB brings all of those pieces together: my background in design, my love of hosting, food, and hospitality, the relationships I’ve been fortunate to build within the industry along the way, and the honor of being a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier in Austin. I’m incredibly grateful for those connections, and the opportunity to collaborate with some of them through DIMBULB is one of the things I’m most excited about.
